National Poetry Day - Thursday 8 October 2015

Thursday 8 October is National Poetry Day!

So in true poetic spirit we'd like you to give us your best shot at a MoneySaving ditty.

Whether you're into limericks or haikus, sonnets or ballads, join in and write us a little something.

We'll share our favourites on the @MSE_Forum

Need some inspiration? Check out the efforts from 2013 and 2014 .

Happy composing :)

(P.S. we're putting this on the Marriages board intentionally - have fun!)

    When we announced
    The imminent arrival of another
Daughter wanted a sister, son wanted
    A brother
    - And little one wanted
    A pig.

    When they first met him,
    grunting and squeaking
    And greedily sucking
    The cry went up
    "Why does little one
    Always get
    His Own Way?"
  • National Poetry Day's coming up on Thursday.

    Any more classics? :)

  • Poetry is a doddle
    It really is a breeze
    Unless your poem's on paper
Then make sure you don't sneeze.

    Poetry is such fun
    You really can't go wrong
If you find a brilliant pun
    It really doesn't take long

    Poems are a lovely way
To make all your friends laugh
Just make them funny not dodgy
So you don't make them barf!

Money saving is the name of the game,
Whether its credit cards or a PPI claim, you're sure to gain
From households to travel we cover it all,
Helping make those larger bills become small

Christmas shopping is coming, your finances could lack,
Why not sign up to our free money saving email
    to get 5% back?
Once Christmas is over, and you're stressing over a bill,
You'll be grateful you signed up,
Because over 55's can get a free will
    I want a badge for this :p

I was hoping for some competition! I dont know what is wrong with this lot? You give them something fun to do which challenges their creativity and they show no interest :(

Christmas is coming and you are probably spending too much
But you wont be the only one it always happens as such
You spend what you think you need to and what you will
and after Xmas you will need to pick up the bill

But fear not my old friend help is always to hand
From Martin Lewis's forum and his loyal users band
They are a good bunch of folk and are your best bet
With good sound advice to help with your debt

First tell us what has happened and how you got there
Be honest and be brave and promise not to swear
They will ask some questions and for your statement of affairs
By this they mean financial not the other I'm sure your aware

Once you have done this, help will come directly your way
From lots of nice people to keep your worries at bay.
They will suggest ways to cut back to help your financial state
Never fear they won't help you because it is never too late

In months to come you will see your finances change
Not being in so much debt will feel somewhat strange
If you help yourself and take advice from these kind folk
you will see for yourself that you are no longer broke

Get yourself started and type those thoughts in your head
Go on, take the first step and start a new thread
I know you won't regret it because I have seen it before
Take their good advice and be in debt no more
