New Year's Resolution: Stay Safe Online, Stay Cyberstreetwise

What's it about?
We all have different resolutions this January, be it clearing our debts, giving up smoking, reducing waste, getting fit etc. See our full list in the New Year Resolutions Hub.
But one resolution we don't hear people making often is to do more to keep yourself and your family safe online.
If you've bought a new tablet, laptop etc in the January Sales or got one for Christmas it's hugely important they're fully protected. We want to encourage everyone to make it one of their resolutions for 2015.
Our latest BeCyberStreetwise as a New Year Resolution blog may help.

Good morning :0)
What a useful post.
My desktop computer is protected by Avast to keep me safe online.
I have a ipad mini too with protection a built in feature.
The Avast I use to have was FREE.
Then we heard a big scare of new bugs on the news. I upgraded to the paid Avast service for hopefully better computer protection.
I have just been reading and nodding at the "30 ways to stop scams".
I have see quite a few of theese.
Completed the "Citizens advice quiz" for more personal training.Always good to refresh on scams.
We have the no sales thing on our house and mobile phones, but of course we still get some. I believe calls from abroad do not listen to your preferance free service.
I find if the phone caller is not someone I know I put the phone down and do not get into any convincing conversation.
Husband is banned from answering house phone! He will chat to anyone and invite sales people round :0(
If the call is for him I will give him the phone if it is someone we know. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

I have just bought an iPad mini and wanted to know if you need a security package on it like you do with the computer and laptop. I was told with Apple you don't need security. Could you please advise? Thank you.0

My husband insists I'm supposed to turn OFF my virus protection when I run a disk defrag otherwise it can get stuck in a loop and then to reboot and boot up the anti virus again. Is that right? It always leaves me feeling vulnerable!“Official Company Representative
